Pursuing Purpose pt 6 - 'Providence & Patience'

God’s providence is grounded in His character and should be considered with respect and humility. While we may naturally desire to wrest His authority from Him, we must submit ourselves to His counsel and will, either in great joy or much sorrow. It is the duty of man to acknowledge God for who He is and for all that He carries out with great awe and reverence.

Our lives are filled with constant change that, on the surface, seems to have no clear design. Scripture, on the other hand, shows us that nothing is without meaning or significance when considered as part of God’s grand, immutable purpose and will. Therefore, we as children of God should view all things and circumstances as our allotted portion and as His means for conforming us to the image of His Son.

Throughout our lives, God bountifully provides countless opportunities to enjoy the fruits of our labor. All things that God bestows are to be received with thanksgiving and enjoyed in their proper place and time. In view of the limited time we have on this earth, our perspective should always be fixed on The Provider rather than the provided which leads to a proper view of all the earthly benefits and blessings we reap.

Pursing Purpose pt 2 - "The Futility of Indulgence"

The wisdom of men and the wisdom of God are often contrasted in Scripture to remind us that God's thoughts are not like the thoughts of men. Ultimately, the knowledge and wisdom we gain from this world can never lead us to true satisfaction because it is temporary, troublesome, and fleeting. Only God, eternal and immutable, can instruct the hearts of men in true, godly wisdom and understanding.

Pursuing Purpose pt 1 - 'The Futility of Living'

It is easy to become busy about the things of this life, but the Preacher reminds us that such busyness will not result in true satisfaction or joy. While this life offers both pleasant and unpleasant moments, they are all momentary, fleeting and, in the end, amount to nothing but forgotten memories. True contentment must be sought in the life to come because this life offers nothing but incessant toil with no lasting peace.
